The new iPad Mini is now available for purchase worldwide: Here’s its price, specifications and more
Apple announced the iPad Mini on October 15 but the iPad is now available for purchase across the world including India. The device is powered by the advanced A17 Pro chip and boasts Apple Intelligence, a feature designed to enhance the user experience while prioritizing privacy. Known for its compact, ultraportable design, the iPad mini comes in four colors – blue, purple, starlight and space gray – making it as functional as it is stylish. The price of the 128GB variant of the device starts at Rs 49,900, which is double the storage of its predecessor.
Power-packed with A17 Pro chip
The new iPad mini gets a significant performance boost thanks to the A17 Pro chip, which offers faster processing and graphics capabilities. The chip includes a 6-core CPU, providing a 30% increase in CPU performance compared to the previous model, and a 5-core GPU, increasing graphic performance by 25%. Whether users are editing photos, engaging in augmented reality (AR), or playing graphics-heavy games like Zenless Zone Zero, the A17 Pro ensures better and faster performance.
The iPad Mini also supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing for more realistic graphics in games, as well as new tools like dynamic caching and mesh shading for immersive gameplay.
Apple Intelligence and iPadOS 18
One of the key features of the new iPad mini is the integration of Apple Intelligence, a personal assistant system that combines generative models and machine learning to increase productivity. The feature, available through the iPadOS 18 update, offers tools like systemwide writing assistance for proofreading, rewriting, and summarizing text in apps like Mail and Notes. Siri has also been improved, now including more intuitive responses and a sleeker, redesigned look.
Apple Intelligence includes capabilities such as image creation through the Freeform app and editing features in Photos that allow users to easily remove distracting objects. These new features are expected to be rolled out in phases, starting with US English this month.
Enhanced connectivity and battery life
For users who rely on connectivity, the iPad mini is equipped with Wi-Fi 6E, providing twice the wireless performance as its predecessor. It also supports 5G for faster internet speeds on the go. The device’s USB-C port is twice as fast as before, making large file transfers quick and easy. Apple claims the iPad Mini will last a whole day on a single charge, making it a reliable companion for both work and leisure.
Camera and Apple Pencil Pro
iPad Mini’s 12MP wide back camera delivers vibrant photos and videos with Smart HDR4 technology. A front-facing 12MP ultra-wide camera takes center stage, ideal for video calls and content creation.
Additionally, the new iPad mini supports Apple Pencil Pro, which offers advanced features like tool-switching with squeeze and intuitive haptic feedback. The Apple Pencil Pro can be magnetically attached, charged, and stored on the iPad mini.
