The man behind the moonwalk, the magic and the myth – Michael, a new biographical film on the life of Michael Jackson is preparing to bring the extraordinary journey of the King of Pop to the big screen. Backed by the Jackson estate and produced by Lionsgate and GK Films, the much-awaited film is set to release on April 24.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, this biopic marks the film debut of Michael Jackson’s nephew Jafar Jackson, stepping into the shoes of one of the most iconic entertainers in music history. The screenplay is written by John Logan, known for films like the Gladiator And Rango.

michael It traces Jackson’s evolution from child prodigy to solo superstar with the Jackson 5, whose influence reshaped global pop culture. The film promises a layered portrait, offering a glimpse of both his stellar performances and the personal struggles that defined his life offstage.

The official synopsis describes the film as “a cinematic portrayal of the life and legacy of one of the most influential artists the world has ever known.” It traces Jackson’s relentless pursuit of perfection, his early solo successes, and his quest to become the biggest entertainer on the planet, while also highlighting the complexities that came with his fame.

Director Antoine Fuqua praised Jafar Jackson’s transformation, saying, “But most importantly, it is Jafar who embodies Michael. It goes beyond the physical resemblance. It is Michael’s spirit that magically comes forth.”

The film has a strong supporting cast, including Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson and Nia Long as Katherine Jackson. Miles Teller as Laura Harrier, Kat Graham as Diana Ross and Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy also star. Michael’s siblings were portrayed by Jamal R. Henderson, Trey’ Horton, Ryan Hill, Joseph David-Jones and Jessica Sula.

Beyond chart-topping hits and sold-out arenas, michael Highlights the pressures of the music industry and the contradictions that shaped Jackson’s career. By examining both his artistry and the personal cost of superstardom, the film aims to put his legacy into context.
