In short
- Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to cost more than Rs 1,50,000
- The device is rumored to launch anytime next year
- It is said that there is crease-free design, touch ID button and more
According to a new report, Apple’s first foldable iPhone can be more cheaper than many expectations. UBS analysts indicated that the company is likely to priced its foldable iPhone between $ 1,800 and $ 2,000, according to Macruers. Although it still makes it the most expensive iPhone, it brings it closer to the pricing of rival foldables such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z fold 7, starting at $ 1,999.99 in the US.
If predicted, the iPhone fold can enter the market at a similar price of foldables from Samsung and Vivo, instead of being placed in a completely separate ultra-Permina bracket. In India, $ 1800 to $ 2000 value limit is converted from about Rs 1,54,900. However, given the track record of Apple, the final price imports in India are likely to be even more due to duties and taxes. For reference, Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,44,900 for 256GB model, and the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to be under Rs 1.5 lakh. Therefore, it is safe to say that the foldable model can cross Rs 1.5 lakh, if not more.
Interestingly, Apple is preparing a competitive foldable not only in terms of price but also in terms of design. The upcoming device may have a thickness of about 4.8 mm. This account has recently been based on a post on Chinese platform Weibo by Instant Digital, which has a good record when it comes to Apple leaks. Earlier, the same account correctly revealed the details such as the yellow color option for the iPhone 14 series and the Titanium Millions Loop for Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Earlier this year, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that Apple was targeting a slimmer design, when it was only 4.5 mm. Even if the Apple is eliminated close to 4.8 mm, it will still be slightly thicker than Samsung’s Galaxy Z fold 7, which measures only 4.2 mm in the open time. Given that Samsung has started a head in the foldable market since 2019, Apple is clearly trying to catch with a premium and polish offering.
The new iPhone fold has been tipped into large -scale production in the second half of 2026, which suggests a possible launch for some time next year. The earlier report of Kuo also reports that Apple’s foldable will come up with a 7.8-inch internal performance, aimed at offering an crease experience with an external performance of 5.5 inch. In terms of cameras, the phone is expected to include two rear sensors and a front camera. Interestingly, Apple can leave face ID for this model and offer embedded touch ID sensors in power button instead.
In the Indian market, the price of foldables is still a premium. Vivo’s X Fold 5 recently launched Rs 1,49,99 for its 16GB + 512GB variant, while Samsung’s Galaxy Z fold 7 starts from Rs 1,74,999. If Apple manages to keep its pricing around or below this range, it can draw the premium users in search of looking for something new from the iPhone lineup.
So far, there is no official term about the foldable iPhone from Apple, including its name, features or pricing. Therefore, while leaks and reports give an initial picture, potential buyers should take details with a pinch of salt until the company confirms.
