In short
- The upcoming iPhone 17 Pro is said to use a new thermal system
- Pro model may feature a vapor room cooling system
- The possible reason behind this change may be APPEL’s AI AI to focus on increasing facilities.
Apple may finally bring a major cooling upgrade in its iPhones. If the new leak is accurate, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max may have a vapor chamber cooling system. This is something that Android phones have used for years, but the iPhone has so far avoided. A tipster that is called Majin Boo has shared an image of a new copper heat plate. It is reportedly a part of Apple’s vapor chamber system, which is still in the test phase. The design is asked to develop, and still there are some technical issues that need to be resolved before finalizing it.
For reference, most high-end Android smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra already use Vapor Chamber Cooling. This system uses liquid inside a seal chamber that turns to vapor when heating the phone. The vapor then spreads heat in the plate, cools down, and becomes liquid again, allowing the process to repeat. This setup helps the phone to stay cool during heavy use, such as gaming or long video recording.
Currently, iPhones rely on basic cooling methods that include spreading heat through the metal and glass parts of the body. But this approach is not always enough. The iPhones can be warm and sometimes showing a warning of temperature, stopping some characteristics until the device cools down. If the new vapor chamber system arrives, it can prevent these conditions by offering more stable performance during intensive tasks.
The possible reason behind this change may be APPEL’s AI AI to focus on increasing facilities. With the hope of supporting new AI-based devices with upcoming iPhones, branded, inside processors as Apple Intelligence will be likely to handle over-demand tasks. To support this, better thermal management will be necessary. The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to run on the new A19 Pro chip, which can also generate more heat under pressure.
Previous reports have already indicated that Apple was planning to go into this type of cooling setup. Popular analyst Ming-Chi Kuo first predicted that only the pro model would only get the vapor chamber cooling, not the regular iPhone 17. It is worth noting that the source of the latest leakage is a mixed record of Magin Boy. While he has shared some Apple updates correctly in the past, he has also made some wrong claims. Therefore, while the image of the copper plate has attracted attention, it should still be considered as an initial leak and the information should not be confirmed.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup in September 2025. Till then, we will probably see more leaks and reports that can give us a better idea of what is coming. But if this new thermal system makes it for the final product, it can be a welcome improvement for users that often push their iPhones to the limit.
