In short
- iPhone 17 and 17 Air is expected to receive 120Hz displays
- New leaks suggest that these displays will get promotion tech
- Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 series in September
Apple’s iPhone 17 series is creating a lot of discussion, especially around possible upgradation in performance technology. Over the years, Apple has reserved its high-refresh-rate promotion display for its “pro” model, leaving standard iPhones with more traditional 60Hz screens. However, rumors suggest that this year the base model and rumor iPhone 17 Air – will finally get 120Hz displays. But there is a catch: These displays may not include Apple’s promotion technology.
Recently a leak indicates that it may come up with a significant difference for highly anticipated 120Hz upgrade non-pro model. According to the recent Weibo Post by Chinese leikar fixed focus Digital, iPhone 17 and Rumon 17 Air are actually expected to facilitate 120Hz display, but they cannot provide full promotion experience.
This new leak claims to some extent before the contradictions that the entire iPhone 17 family had a full promotional rollout. Additionally, there is no concrete report whether Apple plans to bring 120Hz to the budget-oriented “iPhone 17E” model, which is expected to come in early 2026 and maintain the 60Hz panel.
Nevertheless, consistently leaked from different sources suggest that Apple is actually moving away from the 60Hz standard for its base model.
But what is the difference between regular 120Hz display and 120Hz with publicity?
Apple’s promotion technique is exclusive to the current pro model, not only offering the extreme refresh rate of 120Hz. It is an adaptive system that can dynamically low to reduce the fresh rate as 1Hz while looking at the stable material like an image or text. This dynamic scaling improves power efficiency and enables features such as always-on display found on the iPhone Pro model.
Without promotion, 120Hz is displayed on the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 will probably work with a certain or limited refresh range. This means that the refresh rate can switch between some set options – such as 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz – instead of the spontaneous, granulated adjustment of LTPO panels used on pro models instead of. Therefore, while users can get scrolling and animations, the display may have advanced power-saving and dynamic frame rate adjustment deficiency that brings into the promotional table.
The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch date
The iPhone 17 lineup is expected to begin in this September, possibly around the second week, with a few days after the official sales launch. This year, Apple is expected to launch four iPhones – as has been over the years. However, the fourth iPhone can be a new addition, including iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to replace the plus variants and offer a slimmer iPhone with pro-level features.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 is rumored to run on Apple’s A18 chip – or possibly the new A19 – while the air model may have a more powerful A19 chip facility. Pro variants are tipped to run the A19 Pro chipset.
