Thalapathy Vijay-led The Greatest of All Time has opened to a stellar Saturday in Tamil Nadu, with an estimated Rs 27.50 crore. The Venkat Prabhu-directed film has set an all-time record with the biggest Saturday collection, beating the previous best of LEO, which again featured Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. With this, the three-day total collection in Tamil Nadu has gone up to an estimated Rs 79.25 crore, and the film is heading towards an extended weekend in the Rs 107 to Rs 110 crore range.
The film is doing very good business in Tamil Nadu, but not so well in Kerala and Telugu states. Surprisingly, The Goat is being well received in the North belt and the film may surprise everyone by earning respectable totals in the long run. Interestingly, this business is happening despite not being released in national chains due to the short OTT window. The three-day all-India total of The Greatest of All Time is Rs 122.50 crore and the film is targeting Rs 160 crore in the extended weekend in the North.
The film is doing well in Karnataka too, though not at LEO levels. Overseas business has been booming, with the film estimated to have grossed US$14 million in its 4-day opening weekend, taking its worldwide total to Rs 275 crore. The best performance is coming from the United States, where the film is competing with LEO day-to-day, and attempting to create an all-time record.
The good news for The Goat is that the domestic market, Tamil Nadu, is doing very well and the film will aim to touch the Rs 200 crore mark by the end of its run, making Goat – another blockbuster for Thalapathy Vijay – though we can say this with certainty only after watching it on Monday.
Here is the day wise breakup of The Goat (All India).
Thursday: Rs 53.00 crore
Friday: Rs 29.50 crore
Saturday: Rs 40.00 crore
Total: Rs 122.50 crore
