The Devil Box Office Day 1: Darshan’s film opens with strong collection of Rs 11 crore in Karnataka

The Kannada film, The Devil, marking Darshan’s return to the big screen, took a solid opening at the box office. The political action thriller directed by Prakash Veer did a great job on the first day, earning around Rs. According to estimates, 11 crore to 12 crore in Karnataka. With such an impressive start, The Devil is now one of the biggest openers ever in Kannada cinema.

The Devil has also surpassed the opening day figures of Darshan’s previous film Katera. For the record, Katera’s first film was priced at Rs. Earned more than Rs 7 crore. Emerging as a big hit at the box office, it grossed Rs 50 crore in the final round. With the kind of start The Devil has registered, it should not only aim to cross the half-century mark but also set a new benchmark for Kannada films to come.

Produced by Vaishno Studios and Jai Mata Combines, The Devil received mixed responses among audiences and critics. It remains to be seen how the film performs on weekdays after Saturday and Sunday, because the film’s performance in the coming days will decide how far the film goes at the box office.

Darshan plays dual roles in the political action thriller. The supporting cast includes Rachana Rai, Mahesh Manjrekar, Achyut Kumar, Sharmila Mandre, Roger Narayan, Shobhraj and Srinivas Prabhu. The film was delayed several times during production, as the shooting was halted midway due to Darshan’s arrest.
