Netflix is ​​set to stream Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning film ‘The Boy and the Heron’. The acclaimed animated film from Studio Ghibli will be available on the OTT platform from October 7, except in Japan and the United States.

The film, which won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film and the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film, is Miyazaki’s first feature film in 10 years.

The Boy and the Heron is a charming fantasy adventure film set in Japan during the war. Miyazaki came out of retirement to create ‘The Boy and the Heron’, a touching story set in World War II. The film follows the journey of Mahito, a 12-year-old boy who is dealing with the tragic death of his mother and his new life with his father and stepmother. A mysterious grey heron guides him towards understanding his grief.

There are many Studio Ghibli films available on Netflix. The platform currently offers 22 Studio Ghibli titles, and The Boy and the Heron is the latest film.
