‘That was so embarrassing’: The View’s Sara Haines opens up about embarrassing backstage moment with Andrew McCarthy

The View co-host Sara Haines still remembers a particular moment she had backstage with Andrew McCarthy and she considers it embarrassing. McCarthy, famous for his work in the Brat Pack, was on the show to promote his Hulu documentary Brats. Haines opened up about the moment on the podcast Behind the Table with the show’s executive producer Brian Teta.

Sarah Haines’ unforgettable meeting with Andrew McCarthy

The View co-host Sara Haines recently opened up about a funny encounter she had with ’80s heartthrob Andrew McCarthy. Haynes, who describes herself as a fan, revealed on the show’s podcast Behind the Table that something happened to her while filming with McCarthy, who was on the show to promote his documentary Brat.

Haynes recalled the embarrassing moment and praised the documentary as charming and nostalgic, saying it had “all the music, all the movies you love.”

Haynes, who seemed very excited, told how she ran backstage during an ad break to express her appreciation to McCarthy. “I was so excited,” she said. She went backstage during the ad break and told her everything as quickly as she could as she was constantly listening to the countdown.

She talked to him again during the segment as he came on set, then as soon as the camera was off of her, she started talking to him again. She was keeping an eye on the camera because she knew everyone would be talking to her, and she wanted to finish asking him questions. “So I surrounded him there. People were circling, and we were taking a picture. I’m still talking to him.”

While the conversation continued, co-host Whoopi Goldberg came in and made the situation even more awkward. “I hadn’t finished my point yet, and it was kind of an awkward sentence, so I kept moving around.” When McCarthy prepared to leave the stage, Haynes followed her, creating an uncomfortable moment. “I was following her, and when she left, I got the heat. It was very embarrassing. Her body language was like, ‘Girl, that’s enough.'” This led to Haynes apologizing to McCarthy’s representatives.

“I write to our PR press because she works with them, and I was like, ‘Can you apologize for me? I was really excited,'” Haynes said. “And she was like, ‘Don’t worry about it. She liked what you said.’ But I thought, it’s not like she’s going to tell me, yeah, very awkward and socially awkward, girl, stop.”

Despite the awkward situation, Haynes praised McCarthy, who discussed her new documentary during the episode. The film revisits the origins of the Brat Pack label and its impact on its members. “Well, I thought it would be cool to just keep it going until we could all walk around,” McCarthy said in her own funny way.

In the same vein, he turned 60 last year and his relationship with his past began to change. He looked back on it with more affection. And, the most interesting thing about the Brat Pack was that at first he hated it and now he realizes it’s probably the greatest professional blessing of his life.

McCarthy’s documentary focuses on the development of a group of young actors who dominated Hollywood in the ’80s and made some real impact on pop culture. The group included stars like Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Jon Cryer, Demi Moore, Ally Sheedy, and Lea Thompson.

Sara Haines opens up about workplace romance

Sara Haines, co-host of the popular talk show The View, recently shared a personal story about dating a co-worker during her previous job. During the Thursday, May 23 episode of The View, the 46-year-old TV host opened up about dating a co-worker before marrying her husband, Max Shifrin.

She admitted that when she was single, she had “dated someone at the company” but stressed the importance of handling such situations carefully. “There are right ways and wrong ways to do it. Don’t do it in a department where there are power dynamics.” She dated someone in a completely different wing of the building; she didn’t deal with him on a daily basis.

Although Haynes didn’t reveal where in the workplace her romance occurred, it is known that she married Max Shifrin in 2014, and left NBC to join ABC in 2013.

He added that he was a lawyer, and so, when he told her, “I had to report it to HR.” And she said, “What? We’re in a relationship, right?”

Her co-host, Sunny Hostin, asked about the aftermath of the relationship, “What happens, Sarah, when you break up and you see each other naked and now you want to move in with each other?”

Haynes responded by saying that office awkwardness isn’t just limited to romantic relationships. There are a lot of dynamics in offices that are awkward, it’s called being an adult. “It was fine, we dated for years, it was great.”

Following this workplace relationship, Haynes met her now-husband, Shiffrin, through a dating app.
