Tesla’s humanoid robot is back into the optimus limelight, and this time, it is not for factory functions or technological upgrades – it is for dance. A small video shared by Elon Musk on the social media platform X shows the robot performing fluids and expressive dance moves, wondering many viewers to wonder if what they saw was real.
With millions of scenes and broad engagement in the video, quick traction was received. While some social media users questioned whether the clip was produced using artificial intelligence, Musk clarified that the footage was real and was happening in real time.
X’s own chatbot, Groke also responded to a user’s query, stating that the possibility of the clip shows the real optimus robot. AI cited previous demonstrations, including Tesla’s ‘V, Robot’ event in October 2024 and updated from April 2025, proof that the robot had already shown basic functions such as walking and coordination.
Both social media users were surprised and amazed. A user jokingly said about turning the optimus into a wall painter, saying that Tesla would sell millions if it happened. Another praised the abilities of the robot, suggesting that such innovations could reduce physical injuries related to the work on a time scale.
Tesla originally revealed her plans for a humanoid robot during her AI Day in 2021, although at that time it was more than a concept – quite literally, dressed on stage in a robot dress with a person, dressing on stage. In 2022, Tesla brought early prototypes to life, limited but showing working dynamics. Since then, the robot has gradually developed into a more advanced machine that is capable of completing the functions of the simple real world.
The journey is not done without its challenges. Last month, Elon Musk revealed that the Chinese export rules around the rare Earth magnets affected the timeline of the development of optimus. Chinese officials allegedly wanted assurance that materials would not be used for military applications. Musk insisted that Magnet was strict for the use of robots.
The new video shows that Tesla is not only making technological progress, but also making public interest in optimus. Whether the robot is painting walls, working in warehouses or will help at home, the latest Jhalak adds increasing curiosity about its future role in society.
