From autopilot mode to cutting-edge technology, Tesla cars are making headlines for their handy features. Apart from these features, in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the company showed how Tesla owners can share directions with the car. The video shows how, by following a few steps, owners can send their destination to the car. Owners just have to share the directions to the Tesla application and the car will move ahead. This video comes at a time when Tesla was facing allegations of increasing problems and negative customer feedback. It seems that Tesla is losing its edge over legacy automakers in the quality of its all-new EV.

How to share directions to Tesla via phone?

Tesla shared a video showing the simple steps to share directions via smartphone. In the video, after locating the destination on maps on the phone, the user taps on Share and clicks on the Tesla app. This step instantly adds the directions and route on the Tesla car display. The only requirement for this feature is to have the Tesla application on your smartphone.

From its inception, Tesla has opted for a unique in-car software system rather than incorporating industry-standards like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This approach differs from most car manufacturers, who integrate these third-party platforms into their vehicles.

Tesla says its in-house system provides an adequate user experience without relying on external platforms. It manages in-car entertainment, navigation and mobile phone pairing. Despite being a bold choice, some users find Tesla’s system better than CarPlay and Android Auto.

Tesla in India?

Tesla’s arrival in India is imminent, but it will be delayed. Tesla CEO, Elon Musk was expected to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April to announce the brand’s entry into the country with an announcement of investment and setting up a factory. However, Elon Musk told X that the trip has been delayed due to heavy obligations, but he is looking forward to visiting India later this year. This comes after India passed the new EV policy, which Tesla had been requesting from the Indian government.

It has been reported earlier that Tesla is in the process of producing right-hand drive cars at its plant in Germany. The brand only manufactures the Model Y at this Giga factory, but in India, we are expecting the Model 3 as well.

In recent cases, Tesla has also been highlighted for losing its lead on EVs. The US Initial Quality Study 2024 found that Tesla’s battery-electric vehicles, or BEVs, and those of traditional carmakers were similar in quality, with 266 problems reported per 100 new vehicles sold or leased. The study found that plug-in vehicles require more repairs than gas-powered vehicles across all repair categories.
