Smartphone brand Tecno and camera evaluation company Dxomark has announced the launch of Tecno Dxomark Joint Imaging Laboratory as the world’s first fully automated imaging laboratory.
The two companies collaborated to launch this automatic imaging lab in Chongking, China, marking the first implementation of DXOMARK camera V6 protocol. With this partnership, the purpose of Tecno and DXOMark is to set a new imaging assessment standard through completely automated testing, multidimensional skin tone optics and intelligent regional adaptation, while the camera V6 implementation helps to set benchmarks for the implementation test efficiency, stability and fairness.
The accurate automation system in the lab appoints robot arms for micron-level positioning accuracy, fully automated chart switching and AI-controlled environmental simulation. It executes all test workflows without human intervention.

This imaging lab also includes comprehensive imaging assessment with scientifically calibrated 2D color charts that represent global skin tones, which enable the accurate calibration of color science and texture production throughout the spectrum of human complexes.
In addition, LAB enables field-specific adaptation to generate evaluation protocols to suit various market preferences. For example, the system will increase exposure calibration for African markets as users prefer bright pictures there. However, in South-East Asia, this noise decrease will optimize the algorithm as the night shot clarity is important for the user base.

Tecno stated that it is integrating the capabilities of the Lab into its imaging innovation roadmap, as it “develops fuel by multi-screen-tone data constantly develops algorithm and enhances the growth of highly adapted intelligent imaging solutions to suit various global markets.”
