Teagan Croft cast as Rapunzel in Tangled live action, not Lisa or Sabrina Carpenter, Milo Manheim cast as Flynn Rider

Disney has confirmed its lead cast for the upcoming live-action remake of its romance tale, Tangled. While rumors were rife about potentially casting a pop star for the role of Rapunzel, it seems the studio has gone in the other direction. On January 7 local time, it was announced that Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim were cast in the roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in the live-action remake of Tangled. No release date has been announced yet.

All About Tangled Live-Action Casting

Previously, several names were included in the mix, including Espresso hitmaker Sabrina Carpenter and The White Lotus Season 3 debut actress, Blackpink member Lisa, as well as Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, who is said to be in talks for the role of Rapunzel. Meanwhile, several internet heartthrobs such as Mason Thames, Charlie Gillespie and Gilly Jones were considered for the role of Flynn Ryder. However, the latest revelation has made many fans happy. On their social media accounts, Disney confirmed the update, writing, “Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim are Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in Disney’s live-action reimagining of Tangled. Coming only to theaters.”

As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, the feature film has included Better Man and The Greatest Showman creator Michael Gracey as director. Jennifer Katin Robinson, best known for Do Revenge and Thor: Love and Thunder, is leading the project as screenwriter. Earlier reports suggested that Avengers star Scarlett Johansson was cast to play the adoptive mother in the story, but there has been no confirmation yet.

The original film starred Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as a damsel in distress, a would-be princess, and the thief who rescues her from the clutches of the evil Mother Gothel. It is believed that this is a long-term project, with Disney unlikely to accelerate production given the extensive time it took to select its leaders. No further details have been revealed yet, including a possible premiere date.
