Actor Tanuj Virwani and Kamal Haasan’s daughter Akshara Haasan were in a relationship for four years but the two eventually parted ways. They broke up after Akshara’s private photos were leaked online, following which the two went out of touch for a while. Recently, Tanuj opened up about their relationship and revealed why they are not in touch and said, “Sometimes when you lose respect for your partner, and you don’t take a stand for them when you should, I can forgive but can’t forget.”
Talking about friendship with exes in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Tanuj revealed that he is in touch with many of his exes, but not with Akshara. He said, “I am friends with many of my exes and more than friendship, we have mutual respect for each other.” Explaining the reason for breaking up with Akshara, the actor said, “Sometimes when you lose respect for your partner, and you don’t take a stand for them when you should, I can forgive but can’t forget. In that case, I don’t need to be friends. We are happy in our own spaces.”
He further explained that the leaked photos have nothing to do with their breakup. He said that in such a situation either one believes in his innocence or feels responsible and in the latter case, the person should take a stand for him. However, Akshara did not take such a stand, although she admitted that everyone has their own reasons. She said that this matter does not matter to her anymore.
In the same interview, Virwani revealed that his wife Tanya Jacob, who usually does not interfere in his interviews, was concerned about the situation involving Akshara Haasan when they first met. When asked if Tanya ever asked about his past with Akshara, Tanuj confirmed that she did.
He further said that he met Tanya during his breakup with Akshara and at that time they were just friends, but Tanya had probably asked him about this incident out of curiosity or concern. Tanuj said that he had given her the same truthful answer even then and the matter ended there after that.
Tanuj Virwani married his girlfriend Tanya Jacob in a Christmas themed wedding in Lonavala in December last year. The couple is expecting their first child.
