Tamil television presenter Manimegalai recently decided to quit the cooking-based reality show, Cooku With Comali Season 5. She blamed a senior anchor who is currently a contestant – a cook – on the show. Although Manimegalai did not name the cook, fans were quick to point out that she was talking about Priyanka Deshpande, one of the leading anchors in the television space.

In a detailed note, she wrote, “No longer a part of Cook With Comali. With utmost sincerity, honesty and dedication I always give my 100 percent effort and hard work to any programme I am committed to. Same is the case with CWC from November 2019 where the journey of the stress buster show began.”

She said that her self-respect is more important than fame and money. Manimegalai argued that the ongoing fifth season is dominated by a ‘senior anchor who was actually supposed to be the chef of the show’.

She wrote, “This season was dominated by another female anchor, especially in the anchor portion, who was actually supposed to be the cook of the show but she often forgets that and deliberately interferes a lot in the anchor portion and doesn’t let me work. Asking for my rights and voicing concerns has also become a crime this season. But I always voice what is right for me and don’t care about anyone. A lot of negativity and dominance takes away the originality of the show. This is not the same CWC I enjoyed working in earlier. So I am not a part of it anymore.”

Manimegalai said that this was her 15th year in television, but she had never experienced ‘such immature behaviour’. “But I still wish only the best for the person who did this to me. May God grant him more shows and opportunities so that others don’t suffer. Live and let live,” she explained.

Soon after her post, exes and fans on Instagram accused Priyanka Deshpande of using her seniority to dominate others on the show.

Fellow anchors and celebrities supported Manimegalai and wished her all the best for her future endeavours.
