Tamil filmmaker Vikram Sugumaran passed away due to cardiac arrest in Chennai. According to a report by Asianet, he breathed his last while traveling in a bus from Madurai to Chennai. After his untimely demise, his friends of the film industry took their condolences on social media.
Actor Shanthanu dropped several pictures with the director and gave a heartfelt note on X. He wrote, “#Rip the most dear brother @Vikramasugumara 3 I have learned a lot from you and always cherish every moment. You have gone very soon. You will miss #ripvikramsugumaran.”
Actor Kayal Devraj gave his shock after knowing about Vikram Sugumaran’s death. He further made a shocking revelation about how the filmmaker died tragically. “June 2, I can’t really believe this news. Director and actor Vikram Sugumaran died suddenly due to a sudden heart attack, while bus from Chennai by bus,” read his note on X.

Who was Vikram Sugumaran?
Vikram Sugumaran was a Tamil filmmaker, who was known for his root story and cinematic vision. He came from Parmakudi in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu. Inspired by a passion for acting, he moved to Chennai with the hope of making a mark in the film industry.
His journey began under the advice of mythological filmmaker Balu Mahendra. Vikram acted as an assistant to Balu Mahendra and contributed to several short films between 1999 and 2000. He was also part of notable projects like Julie Ganpati during this phase.
Vikram’s acting began with director Wetrimaran’s Poldhavan. He later appeared in Kodivaran of director Sasikumar.
In 2013, Vikram started his direction with Madha Yanaik Kottam. The film established in rural Tamil Nadu received praise for its raw story and authentic depiction of village life.
After a long gap, he returned in 2023 with Ravana Kottam. The film consisted of actors like Shanthanu, Anandi, Prabhu and Illavasu. Despite the strong actors, the film decreased at the box office.
His last project was Theram Boram, a film in which subjects related to climbing and mountaineering were detected.
