Tamannaah Bhatia’s special dance number, Aaj Ki Raat starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao received immense love from fans. Recently, while the actress admitted to growing up with unrealistic beauty standards, she mentioned that the track also helped her ‘accept’ her body.
During a recent interaction with Instant Bollywood, Tamannaah Bhatia revealed that as a child, she used to think that being thin meant being fit, and being a part of films, there was a lot of pressure on her to look a certain way. The Lust Stories 2 actress revealed that eventually, there came a time when she realized that it only provided a certain utility and didn’t actually make her feel beautiful.
“The time when I really started to feel great about myself probably had nothing to do with how skinny I was, but I know it was something I grew up with , and it took me, I think somewhere very recently, maybe tonight helped me accept my body.”
He further recalled a woman’s unexpected reaction when his song, Jailer Ka Kawala, was released. “A woman came up to me at a party, and she said thank you to me, you know because of you we as curvy women feel accepted, and you were so big and fat, yet you were having fun, and I It was the first time that Time reported that, according to this woman, I was fat, which I didn’t fully understand until I heard it in person,” she recalled.
Tamanna said that according to her, she was beautiful, but she acknowledged the audience’s perspective which is influenced by everyone having access to a phone. While posting the pictures, she said, everyone is under pressure to look beautiful in a certain way.
The actress acknowledged that she is in a position of power and agency to show that beauty has nothing to do with how someone looks. She broke all standards of beauty and emphasized how one feels about oneself.
She explained her point by saying how despite being well dressed, she would hate herself because it would be uncomfortable and she would find it difficult to breathe. Meanwhile, she will feel beautiful by dressing naturally without any makeup and hair.
Tamannaah is currently enjoying the release of Sikandar Ka Muqaddar.
