Jaaved Jaaferi joining Taazaab 2 has a connection with Takeshi’s Castle, shares Bhuvan Bam
Taaza Khabar 2, which stars Javed Jaffrey in the role of the antagonist, is set to stream on Disney+ Hotstar from September 27. Bhuvan Bam shared details about Jaffrey’s inclusion during an exclusive interview with India Today Digital.
Taaza Khabar 2 is all set to stream from September 27 and this time, Javed Jaffrey has joined the new series as the villain. Bhuvan Bam’s character will have to face Jaffrey’s wrath directly. During an exclusive interview with India Today Digital, Bhuvan Bam revealed that Javed Jaffrey’s entry in the show has a connection to Takeshi’s Castle.
90s kids would be familiar with the fun voiceover done by Javed Jaffrey for Takeshi’s Castle. Recently, a new season of the show was aired on Prime Video with Bhuvan Bam lending his voice.
Talking to us, Bam said, “The day the trailer of Takeshi’s Castle released, I called Javed Jaffrey sir. I was scared because it was a big deal for me to step into his shoes and do something like this. It was a great opportunity for me and that’s why I said yes.” He further added, “I called him and said, ‘Sir, I am Bhuvan speaking (My name is Bhuvan). The trailer of Takeshi came out today. He said, ‘I saw it. It’s good, it’s great. Let’s meet sometime. I have seen your work.’ I thought it was an ‘out of syllabus’ conversation for me.
It was during this phone call that Bam gave the idea of Taaza Khabar 2 to Jaaferi. “That’s when I told him that we are making the second season of Taaza Khabar and it would be an honour for me to share the screen with him. That’s when we gave him the idea because casting a villain is a very difficult task. You bring the same faces and people get an idea of how they will behave. No one has seen JJ sir in that avatar. I myself have not seen it. When he stands in front of me on screen, when he delivers dialogues, you can’t understand if it is the same Jaaved Jaaferi or not. He has done a great job and I and the entire team are very honoured to have him, Mahesh Manjrekar and Devan Bhojani together,” he said.
Bam said, “I consider myself lucky to share the screen with such legends. The biggest advantage for me is that I am the youngest on the set. I also have the least acting experience. So I consider myself the luckiest to watch these legends act.”
