Sydney Sweeney’s next role is one of her most unique choices yet. Her next project will be playing Christy Martin in a boxing biopic which will be her first experience in the fight game. This new project aims to not only show her ability as an actress but also highlight her passion for boxing. A recent status on the official page of Tona B. Dahlquist Casting mentions that the film is planned to shoot in Charlotte, NC in September-November.
Dahlquist Casting is looking for background actors for David Michôd’s latest film starring Sydney Sweeney in the role of Christy Martin. First of all, some people may not know that Sydney already has experience in the field of combat sports, as she is known to practice martial arts and has some knowledge of kickboxing. Still, Sweeney, who has become a well-known name herself, is not counting on playing it safe. However, she is ready for new experiences at the age of 26.
Sydney Sweeney rose to fame through Euphoria, but she had to give up her MMA practice. Even when she appeared on the Kelly Clarkson show, she said that due to her contract, she cannot engage in certain activities like combat sports. But it seems she will be able to do so on the set of the boxing biopic, where she is expected to use the combat training she acquired.
Sweeney first showed off her fighting skills in an interview with Marie Claire in June 2018 before appearing on Euphoria. She also talked about practicing martial arts in an interview for a show called The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2022, where she revealed that her parents allowed her to do any activity she wanted. She started professional martial arts at the age of 14, competed at the age of 18, and even trained as Ronda Rousey’s MMA coach.
