Must read

Rajkummar Rao is currently enjoying the success of his recently released film Stree 2, which stars Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee in the lead roles. The actor earned critical acclaim for his role and now he opened up about the changing landscape of Bollywood. Rao spoke about how writers and actors have evolved and scripts and stories have changed forever.

In an exclusive conversation with News18 Shosha, the Stree 2 actor shared, “I think it’s a welcome change. People are focusing on writing a good script and people are focusing on telling good stories. And actors are also challenging themselves. They are trying out different genres and different characters. I think it’s a great time to be here.”

He explained that due to the increased exposure to international cinema, audiences are watching it more and are now expecting similar stories from Indian filmmakers. He said that audiences often wonder why the industry keeps making the same kind of films instead of exploring new ideas. He mentioned that when a film like Stree comes, which offers something unique and new, people welcome it enthusiastically.

In a conversation with Raj Shamani, Rao revealed that after coming to Mumbai, he spent more than a year looking for acting opportunities, but he did not get any. Finally, he saw a casting ad for LSD and immediately went to Dibakar’s office. There he was asked to contact casting director Atul Mongia. Rajkummar got Atul’s phone number and contacted him, and was asked to send his photographs. He sent his photographs several times, until Atul called him for an audition.

On the work front, Rao was last seen in Stree 2. The film depicts the horrific tale of Chanderi, with Rao and Kapoor returning to their famous roles. This time, the town faces a new threat, Sarkata, and seeks Stree’s help. The film also features some exciting cameos, such as Varun Dhawan appearing as Bhediya.

Talking about his upcoming projects, he will be seen in the video Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala opposite Tripti Dimri. Produced by T-Series, Balaji Telefilms and Wakao Films in association with Thinkink Pictures, the film marks the first time the lead pair will be working together professionally. The soundtrack and background score for the film will be composed by the duo Sachin-Jigar.
