“Look into her eyes… eyes… pyaar ki bhookh hai woh pyaar se dekho.” Remember when Rajkummar Rao as Vicky was asked to look into the eyes of a witch in the 2018 film Stree? This hilarious climax scene had a Shah Rukh Khan connection. Those who have seen the original film know how the Stree actor mimicked Shah Rukh while looking into her eyes. Rajkummar Rao recently revealed that he improvised the iconic scene using Shah Rukh’s expressions in Stree as a reference.
In a recent interaction with Raj Shamani on YouTube, Rajkummar Rao revealed that whenever the actor works with writers, he asks them to create a “playground” for him. Citing the example of Stree’s iconic climax scene, Rao said that for him it was a “playground” that Stree stood in front of him. While his character is terrified by the witch’s appearance, he is asked to look lovingly into her eyes.
Rajkummar Rao, who is a Shah Rukh Khan fan, further said that men in our country remember King Khan whenever they think of love. Rao shared that he “improvised” the scene by showing the superstar’s facial expressions. The Stree 2 actor further added that Vicky is shown as a small town boy who has watched movies while growing up.
Rao said, “So I improvised there and people started laughing. People in the theatre went crazy watching that scene. It was an improvised scene.”
Talking about Amar Kaushik, Rajkummar Rao praised him and said that the director gives the actors the freedom to experiment on the set despite what is written in the script. Rao said, however, whenever a scene goes wrong, Kaushik discusses it.
Recently, during the promotions of Stree 2 at Pinkvilla Masterclass, Rajkummar Rao praised Shah Rukh Khan, saying that the superstar is “the epitome of romance.” Rao also expressed his desire to act in romantic films as he is “a die-hard romantic at heart.”
Stree 2, the sequel to Stree, hits the screens on August 15, 2024. The recently released film clashed with Khel Khel Mein and Ved at the box office.
