Filmmaker Amar Kaushik reacts to ‘Stree 2’ poster comparison with ‘Stranger Things’
Filmmaker Amar Kaushik addressed the comparisons between ‘Stree 2’ poster and ‘Stranger Things’, and clarified his intentions behind the similarities. The film stars Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles.

While talking to India Today.in, ‘Stree 2’ director Amar Kaushik said that the film’s poster is being compared to the Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’. While Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s film has earned a lot, the climax and poster are being said to be inspired by ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Stranger Things’.
Regarding this, Amar Kaushik told IndiaToday.in, “To be honest, I have not seen ‘Harry Potter’. My team has seen it and they keep telling me and advising me if any scene is even slightly similar to scenes from any other series.”
He further added, “I have seen ‘Stranger Things’, but honestly, many of its scenes come from a deep cultural root. For example, the whole climax scene of Vicky showing his goodness to remove the sword was a very natural move for us, given that even in the first film, it was only the innocence in his eyes that could help him fight ‘Stree’. Technically, Raj doesn’t have any superpowers in this film, his kindness and innocence are his superpowers. That was the idea.”
Talking about the similarity between the poster of Stree 2 and Stranger Things, Amar said, “Regarding the similarity between the poster and Stranger Things, honestly, we didn’t realise it. The designer made it, we liked it and later we realised that it was quite similar. I know the audience is smarter than the filmmaker. They will catch the plagiarism. So, I know what the audience feels, but my intention was not to copy. It was a coincidence. Had I known, we would have avoided it.”

‘Stree 2’ featured Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana in lead roles. The film also featured cameos by Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar.
