The benchmark NSE Nifty closed down 58.8 points at 24619.0 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks like Coffee Day Ent, Bright Solar, Security Diagnostics, Asian Paints and GIR Natureview touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 21 stocks in the Nifty 50 index ended in the green, while 29 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Wipro, L&T, SBI Life, Tata Steel and BPCL were among the top gainers during the day, while Tata Consumer, HUL, Tata Motors, Axis Bank and Nestle India ended in the red.
