The benchmark NSE Nifty closed down 65.91 points at 23501.1 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks like Sumaya Lifestyle, Secure Credential, Allcargo Logistics, Future Supply Chain and GIR Natureview touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 19 stocks in the Nifty 50 index ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Bharti Airtel, LTI Mindtree, Hindalco, Infosys and Adani Ports SEZ were among the top gainers during the day, while Ultratech Sem., Adani Ent., BPCL, Tata Motors and Tata Consumer were in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed down 269.03 points at 77209.9.
Traders held positions in the fertilizer, sugar, irrigation and allied services, packaging and petrochemicals sectors, while selling was seen in the gas and petroleum, tobacco, FMCG, beverages – alcoholic and airlines sectors during the day.
