As Bad Boys: Ride or Die nears the end of its theatrical run, the film has hit its final major milestone. Last weekend, it surpassed the $400 million mark at the global box office just two months after its premiere. Ride or Die becomes the second film in the franchise to enter the $400 club, following 2020’s Bad Boys for Life, which earned $426.5 million.

What better way to celebrate this milestone than getting a seal of approval from legendary author Stephen King. The legendary author took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise Bad Boys: Ride or Die. “This was so much fun. Martin Lawrence always makes me laugh,” he wrote, making a special mention of one of the film’s lead heroes.

Starring Will Smith and Lawrence, the film performed brilliantly at the box office, taking the Bad Boys franchise’s total gross to over $1.2 billion worldwide. It also received excellent ratings and reviews from audiences and critics, making the film a complete package.

The latest installment scored a franchise-best 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and a solid critic review. It was also a huge win for Smith after the Oscars 2022 scandal where he slammed awards host Chris Rock over a prank.

In the sequel, Smith and Lawrence reprise their roles as Miami narcotics officers Detective Lt. Mike Lowrey and Detective Lt. Marcus Burnett. The dynamic duo wage a cold war against twisted law enforcement officials and fight to save the legacy of Police Chief Captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano).

The pair have been associated with the franchise since its inception in 1995, making this return all the more special. Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the film features a stellar cast including Vanessa Hudgens, Dennis MacDonald, Tasha Smith, Tiffany Haddish, Alexander Ludwig, Jacob Scipio, Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd and Paola Nunez.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is currently playing in theaters.
