What can be better than a trip down memory lane on a Wednesday morning? Boney Kapoor took to his Instagram handle to share a black and white throwback photo from the opening day of the 1987 hit film Mr India. The nostalgic photo also features Sridevi, Anil Kapoor and Javed Akhtar looking absolutely gorgeous.
Don’t miss Boney looking no less than a hero in this picture. Anil was dressed in his look from the film while Sridevi wore a long frock. The other men in the picture are twins in white shirts and jeans. The filmmaker captioned his post, “5th January, 1985 just before the first day of shooting of Mr India.” Check it out here:-
Many users shared their thoughts in the comments section and demanded a sequel to the cult classic. One user wrote, “My favourite childhood film. Need part 2. Anil Kapoor ji and Ranveer Singh as the villain.” Another commented, “Winning team for best kids film in India.” A third said, “Mr India 2 please sir.” A fourth shared, “Anil still looks the same.”
Referring to Boney and Sridevi, a netizen said, “It’s crazy to think that the 2 people in this picture had no idea that they would fall in love and create history and add to the legacy of a historic family.” Someone else also wondered, “Wow, so this took 2-3 years to be made? Was it released in 1988?”
Jointly produced by Boney Kapoor and Surinder Kapoor under the banner of Narasimha Enterprises, Mr. India was a superhero film directed by Shekhar Kapur. The iconic Salim-Javed wrote the story and screenplay of the film and made their last film together before their infamous feud. Laxmikant-Pyarelal composed the soundtrack of this classic which became the second highest-grossing film of 1987.
Mr India was remade in Tamil in 1989 as En Rathathin Rathame and in Kannada as Jai Karnataka (1989). A 3D sequel titled Mr India 2 was announced in 2011 but is yet to go into production.
