On September 9, 2005, Siddharth Anand made his debut as a director with Saif Ali Khan and Salaam Namaste led by Priti Zinta. The film proved to be a clean hit, and 20 years later, filmmaker Ta Ra Rum Poom, Bachchana Ai Haseeno, Anjana Anjani, Bang Bang, War, Pathan and Fighter stand with 100 percent success ratio. In a special conversation with Pinkvilla, Sid Anand opened about completing 20 years in the industry.
“At every stage of my journey, the definition of success had different things. I started as an advertisement in 2000, and then, success for me was only able to make another film. In our industry, the biggest recognition for the filmmakers is getting an actor for an actor, because you want me to make a film that I make films, I want to make films. So today, I want to make a film. Siddharth AnandGiven the success of tasting in the last 20 years.
With 8 films under his pipeline, Siddharth Anand is currently shooting for his 9th direction – Raja with Shahrukh Khan, Deepika PadukoneSuhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan in the lead. When asked to comment on the film, which is closest to his heart, Siddharth says, “All films are really close to your heart. Whenever you are making films, that film is closest to your heart. Now, what I am making is closest to my heart.”
Sid went down to Memory Lane to give words to Tara Rum Pum, the most difficult film of his career. “The fact that I really enjoy my work, it all makes it easy, but movies are difficult for me. The most difficult film to shoot was Tara Rum Pum. All NASCAR RATIR RAMCAREM were really difficult to keep together. I see Tara Rum Pum as the most difficult film of my career.” And what is different, will it be different, if he had to make a film today? “Tara Rum Pum is special, and I am glad that it has grown well. Today, I can treat poverty a little differently in Tara Rum Poom. The poverty shown in New York at that time was very comfortable at that time. Emotions and adventures were great for that time, but I will treat poverty in a different way.”
On 27 June, Brad Pit-LED F1 Tara Rum Pam brought Back in conversation on social media. Have he read them? “It’s really fun that people are comparing two films. F1 is very luxurious and people who talk about our film in the same breath are very special. But I know the facts. I am a great fan of Joseph Kosinski, and the way he shot the film, he made it even more spectacular.” After four romantic comedy, Siddharth Anand infection in 2014 in action style with Bang Bang. And it has not been looking back since then. However, he expects to return to the romantic style again.
Sid insisted, “I am constantly watching to make a romantic film and I really want to go back at least once once. I have managed to make 8 films in 20 years, and I always need a lot of faith to make a film and give a film 3 years. I am looking for a romantic film.” There is a consensus in industry and internet that no one presents heroes such as Siddharth Anand – it is a bang bang, war and fighter Hrithik Roshan, or Shahrukh Khan in Patath. What is its secret? “I think the presentation of my heroes is something that comes very naturally to me. This film is my natural form of production that presents things in a big way of life. Also, I do not need to do much to present Hrithik Roshan or Shahrukh Khan, as they look great-they look like that, the way they look at the screen, I think that I think.”
And can it be called Siddharth Anand Trademark? “Irram … I just know that I follow a certain rule book. I garnish the film with some ingredients. I always ensure, I sprinkle the film with those garnish.” Can he tell us more about his secret material? He laughs, “Those things are only to learn for me. Let me tell you again, it’s to learn for me and enjoy the audience.” Siddharth, however, believes that the audience is very basic with his demands for consumption of material. “The demand of the audience is simple – entertainment. They do not want to be enlightened, but entertain. We must understand that we are making films for the first audience – we should always keep them first, think about them and entertain them.”
Siddharth has replaced a manufacturer by launching her banner co-established by Mamta Anand. He is planning a multi-film slate, which is currently in different stages of development. “Now, the film I am making is going to consume some time, and my attention is on the direction. But in Mamta, my partner is actively working on some goods. That time will be the right person to give details on our projects when the time is correct.”
Over a period of 20 years, Siddharth has made films like Bang Bang, War, PlateauAnd fighter, which has scope for another part. But Sid remained away from the sequel voluntarily. He said, “I need to be inspired to be able to be able to make one part two really and I have not found stories that take forward those characters. I try to do things that are not in my comfort field. I don’t want to live in a zone to think about love for a franchise, and I want to challenge myself.”
Finally, is there a style that wants to make Sid? “There is a style on which I want to work, and this is something I am working (quietly). It’s something that requires a lot of prep, and is very challenging. I don’t want to say it by speaking about it,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the king has been slated to hit the big screen in 2027. The shooting is currently running in Poland with Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan along with others. Stay for Pinkvilla for more updates!
