1. Nani starrer Saripodha Sanivaram releases in theatres
Superstar Nani’s much-awaited film Saripodha Sanivaram was released on August 29, 2024. Directed by Vivek Aatreya, the film stars SJ Suryah, Priyanka Mohan, Abhirami and Aditi Balan in lead roles apart from Nani.
Saripodha Sanivaram is receiving positive response from audiences and critics, especially for the hardcore action sequences. Saripodha Sanivaram is the story of a young man Surya, who suffers from anger issues.
To deal with his problem, he keeps quiet from Sunday to Friday and marks down all the people he wants to punish in a notebook. However, every Saturday Surya sets out to take revenge on that person. Things change when he encounters a rogue police officer.

2. Vijay Sethupathi’s Viduthalai Part 2 release date revealed
Directed by Vetrimaaran, Vijay Sethupathi’s Viduthalai Part 2 is all set to hit the theatres on December 20, 2024. This exciting news was announced through a social media post on August 29.
Apart from Sethupathi, this period crime thriller also stars Soori, Manju Warrier and Gautham Vasudev Menon in important roles. Viduthalai Part 2 is based on B. Jayamohan’s short story Thunaivan. The sequel takes forward the story of Constable Kumaresan, played by Soori, who is assigned the task of arresting Perumal, played by Vijay Sethupathi, a teacher and leader of a separatist group.
3. Nagarjuna and Shruti Haasan join Rajinikanth’s Coolie
On Nagarjuna’s 65th birthday, the makers of Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie released the first look of the Kubera actor from the film. The monochrome poster features Nagarjuna in an intense and stylish avatar. The veteran actor looks dashing in a rough beard and moustache, dark sunglasses and a golden watch. Nagarjuna’s character in the picture is named Simon.
Meanwhile, on August 30, the makers also released the first look of Shruti Haasan as Preeti. The new poster of the talented pan-India actress gives tremendous energy to her character and officially marks her entry in Rajinikanth’s film. Apart from this, Manjummel Boys actor Soubin Shahir was also introduced as an official cast member.
4. Legal notice to Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 team
Days after the release of Kamal Haasan’s film Indian 2, Pinkvilla has learned that the Multiplex Association of India has sent a legal notice to the team of Indian 2 for violating OTT rules.
The source said, “The Multiplex Association of India has laid down certain rules for the theatrical release of films in Hindi. As per the rules, producers have to follow a strict OTT window of 8 weeks and those who do not follow the laid down guidelines will not get a release in the top 3 national multiplex chains- PVRinox and Cinepolis.” The source added, “The team of Indian 2 aka Hindustani 2 had agreed to the said guidelines and got a release in national chains.”
Further, the source said that the Multiplex Association was shocked to learn that the Hindi version of Indian 2 was streaming on Netflix before the stipulated 8-week period. “Ideally, Hindustani 2 should have streamed on September 6, but it has already aired, and this has not gone down well with the powerful players in the exhibition sector,” the source said.
5. Prithviraj Sukumaran’s new film announced
Prithviraj Sukumaran made headlines by announcing his next film with director Nissam Basheer. Announcing the news on his social media, the actor revealed the title of his film, Nobody. Though not much is known about the film, it is presented under the banner of Prithviraj Productions in association with E4 Entertainment. The key members of the project are Sameer Abdul, Supriya Menon, Mukesh R Mehta, CV Sarathy and Nissam Basheer.
