According to People, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s children reportedly wanted their mother to be more vocal with her side of the story during their eight-year-long divorce battle, which was finally resolved on December 30. The outlet reported on January 1, citing a source, that despite her children urging her to speak up for themselves, she reminded them to focus on changing laws rather than telling public stories.

Jolie and Pitt met in 2005 as co-stars on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. After dating for a decade, the pair got married in 2014, but parted ways after just two years. Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016 following an alleged incident of abuse on a private plane involving their children.

Documents obtained by various media outlets at the time revealed that if Jolie did not help repair the Bullet Train star’s relationship with her children, she risked losing primary custody of her children. However, the private judge overseeing the case was later disqualified by an appeals court, and the ruling did not take effect.
Following their recent divorce settlement, Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, told People that his client is focused on finding peace and healing for the family. However, that may not be happening any time soon, as the former couple is embroiled in a contentious legal battle over the French winery they once co-owned.
