RJ Balaji and Selvaraghavan starrer film Soragavasal is all set to hit the streaming service soon. The Tamil-language prison drama was directed by debutant Siddharth Vishwanath and was released on November 29, 2024.
As the film is approaching a month of release, Soragavasal is scheduled to release on OTT platform Netflix on December 27, 2024. The official notification regarding the same was shared by Let’s Cinema via X (formerly Twitter).

RJ Balaji and Selvaraghavan starrer Sooragavasal is based on the 1999 Madras Central Jail riots. The film focuses on the story of a man who was jailed on wrong charges. Upon being convicted on such charges, the man questions the purpose of prison and tries to understand whether such a place actually reforms someone or it pushes them into the abyss of a world full of crime.
Apart from RJ Balaji and Selvaraghavan, the film also stars Natty Subramaniam, Karunas, Samuel Abiola Robinson, Sania Ayyappan, Sharaf U Dheen, Balaji Sakthivel and many more in lead roles. The film received positive to mixed reviews.
With the soundtrack and background score composed by Malayalam composer Christo Xavier, it marks the composer’s debut in Tamil cinema.
Moving forward, RJ Balaji is currently busy producing his next directorial venture. The actor-director is currently helming the project, tentatively titled Suriya 45, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles.
Due to leaked pictures from the sets of the film, it is being speculated that the film will be a divine fantasy entertainer starring Suriya and Trisha as lawyers. The film, which was previously announced, initially featured AR Rahman as the composer, but it was later announced that young sensation Sai Abhyankar has been selected for the soundtrack and score works.
On the other hand, director Selvaraghavan has also announced his next directorial venture Mental Manadhil. The film stars GV Prakash Kumar as the hero and is expected to be a romantic musical film. Additionally, Prakash Kumar is also preparing the track for it.
