Sophie Choudry’s school troll questions her Bollywood career: What a sad mentality
Sophie Choudry silenced trolls questioning her career after she shared pictures with Jennifer Lopez from a billionaire’s wedding held in Udaipur. The singer-host clarified that she has built a successful career through live shows and events, and reminded critics that on-screen visibility is not the only measure of success.
Singer, actor and popular host Sophie Choudry recently played host at the lavish Udaipur wedding of American billionaire’s daughter Netra Mantena who got married to Vamsi Gadiraju. While she shared photos from the star-studded celebrations – including an exclusive backstage moment with Jennifer Lopez – Sophie also found herself responding to trolls who questioned her career and longevity in Bollywood.
Sophie posted a photo with JLo and called the global star her longtime inspiration. She wrote, “Jennifer Lopez, an artist I admire and have been deeply inspired by for over two decades! Her fire on stage, her discipline, her music videos, her style, her many films are absolutely iconic!”
However, an X user soon questioned how she “survived in Bollywood” without films, web shows or songs in recent years. Sophie responded with confidence and candor, saying, “Through the live show market. I have been one of the busiest live singer-performers for 17 years for corporate and wedding shows and am the number one female host for live programmes. Just because you don’t see me on screen doesn’t mean I haven’t made my mark elsewhere. In India, unless you are in the top 10 actresses, you don’t make money. I love it so much.” Realized early on, and thank God for that.”
Another troll claimed she “begged” for a photo with Jennifer Lopez, prompting Sophie to shut down the negativity. She responded, “How sad your mentality is. I feel sorry for you. I never begged for anything in my life. I requested, and they politely agreed because I was the host of the show. It’s not every day you get to meet your idol and tell them how much you admire them. But clearly you wouldn’t know what that is. Too much negativity.”
Jennifer Lopez gave a power-packed concert at her Udaipur wedding, performing hit songs like Waiting for Tonight, Get on the Floor and Ain’t Your Mama. Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and Nora Fatehi also performed at the pre-wedding festivities.
