Sony is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its PlayStation brand this year and is marking the occasion with limited edition consoles and accessories.
Part of this limited edition are the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, the new PlayStation 5 Pro, the DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers, and the PlayStation Portal.
PlayStation 5 Pro Limited Edition Bundle
All of these devices feature a grey colourway that is reminiscent of the original PlayStation model launched on December 3, 1994. The console features light grey outer panels and a dark grey inner body, with the original four-colour PlayStation logo on the side. There is also a special 30th anniversary logo on the back and embossed in a fine repeating pattern on the inner side of the outer panels.
Both the digital PS5 and PS5 Pro come with matching accessories. The standard DualSense controller also features a gray color scheme, a four-color PlayStation logo, and a 30th anniversary logo textured pattern. It includes a special USB-C cable with a thicker attachment point that mimics the look of older PlayStation controller cables. The stand is also color matched.
PlayStation 5 Digital Limited Edition Bundle
Sony has also included a rubber cable tie in the shape of the PlayStation icon, PlayStation stickers, PlayStation paperclips, and a limited edition PlayStation poster in one of 30 possible designs. Since both consoles are digital, they also include a matching color plate for the optional disc drive, if you choose to purchase one.
Finally, the PlayStation Portal is also getting a makeover with new colors and logos.
Bundled Accessories
All devices will come in special packaging with a design similar to the original PlayStation.
Sony is selling the console in a bundle. The PS5 Pro bundle includes the console along with a matching DualSense and DualSense Pro controller, DualSense charging station, and the accessories mentioned above. It will be available in a limited quantity of 12,300 units, with each unit having its number printed on the side.
PlayStation Portal
The PS5 bundle includes the digital version of the console as well as a single matching DualSense controller and the aforementioned accessories.
The PlayStation Portal Limited Edition will be sold separately. You can also buy a limited edition DualSense Edge, which comes with a matching case and the standard DualSense.
DualSense Edge
The only thing missing from this celebration is a PS5 version with an optical drive. If you need a disc drive, you’ll need to buy it separately as both consoles are digital-only.
The limited edition products will be available for pre-order from direct.playstation.com and participating retailers starting September 26, except for the base PS5 Digital Edition, which will be available at participating retailers starting October 10. They will all go on sale on November 21. No pricing has been announced yet.
