Meanwhile, scenes have emerged of Bangladesh’s Muslim clerics guarding a Hindu temple in Cumilla. A report in Bangladesh’s Daily Star said that homes and business establishments of Hindus were attacked and their valuables were looted by mobs in at least 27 districts on Monday.
An ISKCON temple and a Kali temple in Meherpur, located in the Khulna Division of Bangladesh, were vandalised and set on fire.
The widespread attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are the most severe since 2021, when protests broke out across the country after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. Several Hindu temples were attacked in the violence.
