Sonu Sood is all set to debut as a writer with his action film Fateh, which he also directs and produces. He revealed that he wrote award-winning scenes for Bollywood and South films, but never took credit, as he was not the primary writer. Sonu shared that directors would often record his ideas as they were impressed by his details, but he never sought recognition, believing in the collaborative nature of filmmaking.

In an interview with News 18, Sonu Sood opened up about his contribution and said, “I have put ideas into the scripts of all the films I have done in South and Bollywood. Many of them won awards in the writing category. But I never took credit because I was not the primary writer on those films.”

He shared that he would often rework scenes when he was not initially satisfied with the script. Despite not being a credited writer, he was willing to offer new ideas, ensuring that they connected with its core theme while respecting the film’s original vision.

The Dabangg actor recalled how his writing had influenced some of the biggest filmmakers. He shared, “When I was describing my ideas, some of the biggest directors requested me if they could record me on a dictaphone or on their phones because they liked what I was describing.”

These recorded scenes became the foundation of the script that ultimately led to their success. He laughed recalling how these orally told ideas became extremely popular in many films, and many famous names included scenes from them in their works.

Sonu further added, “I never felt the need to take credit because we are all part of the same film.” While he said that while it feels good to appreciate the views he envisions, Fateh was a different journey altogether.

The Simmba actor revealed that while shooting for the film, he always kept a pen and paper with him, in which he used to write lines inspired by his personal experiences.

Sonu Sood told how his penchant for writing developed, the credit for this goes to his mother. He shared that those who know him can attest to his natural ability to effortlessly weave scenes together while narrating, as if he were reading from a book.

She believes she inherited this skill from her mother, an English and history professor, who used to write poetic letters to her. He replied in the same style, and she often encouraged him to keep writing, always praising his talent.

Sonu reveals how his mother’s words about writing stayed with him and shaped his journey. He revealed that Fateh is the culmination of his years of thoughts that he had written in his diary.

He admitted that he did not fully understand his advice to keep his writing alive until he passed away, but since then, he has made a habit of writing down any thoughts that come to mind . Over time, these ideas evolved into the visuals and character development of his work.

On the professional front, Sonu Sood is all set to showcase his directorial skills with the action-packed thriller Fateh, which is garnering a lot of buzz.

Produced by Shakti Sagar Productions and Zee Studios, with Ajay Dhama as co-producer, the film stars an impressive ensemble cast including Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, Naseeruddin Shah and Dibyendu Bhattacharya. Set to release on January 10, Fateh promises to give moviegoers an action-packed film.
