Sonam Kapoor’s tribute to ‘Gudda’ Rohit Bal: Celebrating Diwali in your creation
Fashion designer Rohit Bal died on Friday after suffering from a heart ailment. Her friend and actress Sonam Kapoor shared an emotional tribute on social media by wearing one of her dresses to celebrate Diwali.

Fashion designer Rohit Bal died on Friday 1 November due to heart disease. Actor Sonam Kapoor shared an emotional note remembering the famous designer. She shared a photo of herself wearing one of the late designer’s creations, and wrote about how privileged she was to know him closely.
Sonam addressed Rohit as ‘Gudda’, as he was popularly called, and wrote on her Instagram stories: “Dear Gudda, I heard that I was going to celebrate Diwali in my grand creation, which was You generously lent me the second time. I have had the privilege of knowing you, wearing you and walking for you many times, I hope you always rest in peace.

The 63-year-old designer was suffering from heart disease for some time. The news of his death was confirmed by a note posted on the official Instagram account of FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India). The statement said, “We mourn the demise of renowned designer Rohit Bal. He was the founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Known for his unique blend of traditional patterns with modern sensibilities, Bal The work redefined and inspired Indian fashion.” Generations (sic).”
The post further said, “His legacy of artistry and innovation as well as visionary thinking will live on in the world of fashion. Rest in peace Gudda.”
Rohit was suffering from heart disease since last year. He was admitted to the intensive care unit of Medanta Hospital in Gurugram in November 2023. The fashion designer was rushed to the hospital due to pre-existing heart complications.
She returned to work earlier this year and showed her last show at the Lakme India Fashion Week in Delhi last month. The designer stumbled on the ramp, leaving fans worried about his health.
