Sonakshi Sinha on playing ‘big, important’ roles: It was like tasting blood
Sonakshi Sinha is back to work after her marriage to Zaheer Iqbal. In an interview, she shared her thoughts about her recent release Kakuda and her desire to work in different genres.

Sonakshi Sinha recently spoke in an interview about how she wants to do bigger and important roles. She also talked about her recent release ‘Kakuda’. The film released on Zee5 on July 12.
in an exclusive interview The Indian Express, Sonakshi expressed her desire to work in different genres and said that she would not take up roles in films that had only two songs and four scenes. During the interview, Sonakshi said that she prefers lead roles. She cited her experience in Akira (2016), in which she played the lead role.
She said, “I would like to do bigger roles, important roles. That’s a good thing. ‘Akira’ (2016), where I was the hero, was like tasting blood. I never want to go back to the phase of doing two songs and four scenes in a film. So, I am enjoying this phase. Bring it on!”
Talking about her latest film, Sonakshi said, “Kakuda came to me and I found it really fun to read. I was very happy while reading the script. Though I don’t like horror films, this film had a lot of humour. Aditya (Sarpotdar) is someone who has understood this genre very well. I think his command over it is fantastic. He knows where to scare people, where to make them laugh, the punches, the beats, he does it all very well.”
She also added, “It was a pleasure for me to work on such a genre for the first time, with a director like him who knows the genre very well. So, I had a lot of fun. It was like stepping out of my comfort zone, trying something I hadn’t done before. I would love to do it again because it was a lot of fun.”
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, ‘Kakuda’ also stars Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem. This is Sonakshi’s second release this year after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix India series ‘Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’.
