Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been one of the biggest actresses of Bollywood during the last two decades. Starting her journey by winning the title of Miss World, she became a part of many successful Bollywood films. Recently, singer Sona Mohapatra revealed that she noticed a change in the actress with time, she felt she changed her personality and lost her intelligence after rising to fame.
In a new interview on Love Lingo’s YouTube, Sona Mohapatra discussed how some actors deliberately don’t highlight their intelligence in the film industry. She cited the example of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and revealed that she first met the actress when she was studying architecture at Rachana Sansad Academy of Architecture.
At that time, singer Naina found Bachchan exceptionally handsome, intelligent and articulate. However, she felt that winning the Miss World pageant and acting in popular films changed her personality in her later years.
He recalled, ‘She was studying architecture, she was older than me…a classmate of hers, a family friend, very close. She looked very beautiful, she was very smart, very well spoken, first of all, she became who she was.”
However, later, when Mahapatra saw the Dhoom 2 actress in interviews, she was surprised that this was not the girl she knew. He said that the entertainment industry may have forced him to appear less outspoken and not smarter.
“Maybe she was diplomatic in any case, but somehow laughed a lot. Maybe that was her phase. But I kept thinking, ‘She’s a very intelligent woman.’ But the industry she’s in is probably forcing her not to be too smart, I might be wrong,” Sona explained.
The singer said that a person can fit better into the ecosystem of the entertainment industry when he appears a little helpless.
Aishwarya, on the other hand, initially aspired to become an architect and joined Rachana Sansad Academy of Architecture. But, she later left her studies to pursue modeling and was crowned Miss World in 1994.
She made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Iruvar in 1997 and made her Bollywood debut in the same year with Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. The actress has been a part of successful films like Dhoom 2, Jodha Akbar, Guru, Hum Dil De Sanam and many more. Aishwarya was last seen in 2023’s Ponniyin Selvan: II and has not announced any new projects.
