Former cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and actress Sharmila Tagore’s daughter Soha Ali Khan recently opened up about her upbringing and shared how her parents made her and her brothers and siblings, Saif Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan Despite his privileged background, he was frozen. Soha revealed that her father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi often gave the perception that the family was not financially closed. “He was very concerned about the cost of petrol and electricity,” he said.
Speaking at Quizitok Podcast, Soha Ali Khan recalled that when her childhood was full of luxury, her parents ensured that they understand the value of money. He shared how his father would leave the post-ident note around the house, reminding him to shut down the lights and save energy. He also mentioned that he had only one phone in the house, making fun of how difficult it was to find it since his sister, Saba, often shut down himself in his room with it.
Soha recalled a valuable lesson when her father taught her when she gave her 500 rupees. He offered him an option: Take money immediately or get 50 rupees every year. He chose the latter, and his father fulfilled his promise, taught the importance of saving and investing him from intelligence.
Her parents, Soha explained, she came to know about domestic finance. Her mother, Sharmila Tagore, regularly used to sit with cook to track expenses and keep the family budget under investigation. Soha concluded saying that when they were not spoiled, they enjoyed the privileges of a princess, but always understood the importance of being grounded.
Soha also thanked her for her life. Talking about his beautiful house in Delhi, in front of the army building, he admitted that he did not realize its importance at that time. However, after 20 years, he felt that he should not be very comfortable in it, as it was eventually taken away from them. He said that he is grateful to many things that he had, which others did, and those experiences helped him appreciate the value of small things.
