Joseph Gordon-Levitt expresses his thoughts on Angels in the Outfield
In a personal note, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, 43, said the film holds a special place in his heart. In the film, he plays Roger Bowman, a young California Angels fan who becomes his lucky charm after watching Al and his angel-like friends help struggling players on the field.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt smiled when he described how much fun making the film was for him at the age of twelve. He hoped it would be fun for all of them. After its debut on July 15, 1994, Angels in the Outfield quickly gained popularity and spawned two made-for-TV sequels, Angels in the Endzone and Angels in the Infield.
Milton Davis Jr., Danny Glover, Tony Danza, Adrien Brody, Matthew McConaughey and more starred in the original film. Gordon-Levitt, who had previously appeared in films such as A River Runs Through It (1992) and Holy Matrimony (1994), landed his now iconic role at a young age.
Prior to Angels in the Outfield, Lloyd had a number of successful roles in television shows such as Back to the Future and the Addams Family films, which helped him become a popular character actor.
Angels in the Outfield was Matthew McConaughey’s second film after his breakout role in Dazed and Confused in 1993. Angels in the Outfield is currently available to stream on Disney+.
