Ed Sheeran, who is currently one of the most famous singers in the world, once lived a very unhealthy lifestyle, with poor eating habits and lack of physical activity causing him to weigh 15-and-a-half stone (98kg). Talking about his “fat phase” during a recent chat on the Session 24 podcast, Ed revealed he ate chicken wings for a year and a half, thinking it was a no-carb diet. “I was in my fat phase, in America I thought no carb meant no bread or fries. I thought ‘I can eat chicken wings’ and I ate only chicken wings for a year and a half. And I gained 4 stone (25.4kg),” Ed said, reports the Mirror.
Ed revealed that he gains a lot of weight. Reflecting on his eating habits, he said, “I don’t have an off switch. If I have one thing to eat, there’s an off switch. Like if I have that one, I’m not like I have to order another and then another. If everything is in front of me I’ll eat it.”

Just a few years ago, when Ed was about to become a father, he decided to adopt healthier eating habits, stop drinking alcohol every day and hit the gym. In August 2020, Ed became a parent with his wife Cherry Seaborn and welcomed their first daughter, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. “I’ve started living a lot cleaner since becoming a father. But I think taking time off and not going on tour was the worst thing for my health because I was drinking every day,” he told The Sun. “I stopped drinking three months before Lyra was born because I decided I was going to be the guy to take my wife to the hospital. At my peak I weighed 15-and-a-half stone (98kg), and I think I weigh ten-and-a-half stone (66.6kg) now – I was fat, it really showed. I had a 36 waist – now I’m down to 28.”
