Singer Chinmayi on Arijit’s exit from playback singing: He always worked at a high level

Singer Chinmayi Sripada has spoken about her experiences of working with composer Arijit Singh after he recently announced his retirement from playback singing. As one of the industry’s most recognizable voices, Singh’s decision is a significant moment, one that has prompted those who worked with him to reflect. Sripada recalled their early meetings and the stability she observed in Singh’s demeanor during his rise to fame.
Sripada first met Singh when she recorded him for Pritam, before he gained mainstream fame. On X, she said that even after her success, especially after the release of You are the oneHis attitude and approach towards work remained unchanged.
After Singh became highly sought after in Bollywood, Sripada collaborated with him several times. He noted that there was humility and professionalism in his conduct as a musician and colleague.
Expressing her admiration, Sripada described Singh as “one of my favorite musicians, singers, and one of the finest, and dare I say it, spiritually evolved human beings that I have seen.”
Sripada further commented that Singh seemed to be guided by an inner calling, writing, “I always felt that he was a man who worked and operated from a higher calling; whatever he planned for himself as a musician would be nothing short of divinity.”
On January 27, Singh, aged 38, explained his reasons for moving away from playback singing in a series of posts on his personal X account. He wrote, “Hello, Happy New Year everyone. I would like to thank you all for loving me so much as listeners all these years. I am happy to announce that I will not be taking up any new assignments as a playback singer from now on. I am calling it quits. It was a wonderful journey.”
Explaining the reasons that prompted him to quit, he elaborated on
Singh indicated that he had to take the big decision due to boredom. He said, “I need to do some other music for a living. The other reason is that I’m excited to hear a singer come and give me real inspiration.”
