Singer Alka Yagnik diagnosed with rare sensorineural hearing loss
Playback singer Alka Yagnik has been diagnosed with a rare sensorineural hearing loss. She requested everyone’s support and understanding in this hour of crisis.
Veteran playback singer Alka Yagnik revealed that she has been diagnosed with a rare sensory nerve damage. In her post on Instagram, she mentioned that this was the reason why she was missing in action. She also revealed that this ‘sudden big setback’ shocked her and she is still trying to recover from it.
On June 17, Alka shared a photo of herself and requested everyone’s support and understanding. She also asked people to pray for her as she hopes she gets well again.
Sharing the post, she wrote, “To all my fans, friends, followers and well-wishers. A few weeks ago, when I stepped out of a flight, I suddenly realised that I was unable to hear anything. Having gathered some courage in the weeks following the incident, I now want to break my silence for all my friends and well-wishers who have been asking me why I am missing in action.”
She further added, “My doctors have diagnosed it as a rare sensorineural hearing loss due to the viral attack… This sudden, massive setback has completely shocked me. Please keep me in your prayers as I try to recover from this.”

Alka also requested people to be cautious about listening to loud music and headphones. “To my fans and young colleagues, I would like to caution about listening to music at very high volume and headphones. One day, I want to share the health hazards of my professional life. With all your love and support, I am hoping to rebuild my life and come back to you soon. Your support and understanding means a lot to me at this crucial time,” she informed.
58-year-old Alka Yagnik is one of the leading singers of Bollywood. This year she sang songs in ‘Crew’ and ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’.
