Silambarson took notes from Kamal Haasan for playing the role of a woman in StR 50
Actor Silambarson confirmed a character with feminine symptoms in his upcoming film, STR 50. He revealed that he discussed the role with Kamal Haasan to better understand the nuances.

Actor Silambaron, known as Simbu or STR, is currently promoting ‘Thug Life’, which is his upcoming film with Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam. During the promotion of the film, Simbu revealed the complicated details about its next project, titled ‘STR 50’. The actor said that he would play a character with female characteristics.
In an interview with BackwardThe actor said, “Yes, the film has a role with female elements. We also discussed with Kamal Haasan to understand how to remove it. Only when an actor gets something different, he can show his true caliber.”
The project, which marks his 50th film, will be produced under his home banner Atman Cine Arts. Why the producer changed the manufacturer, Simbu explained, “I think I can make my own production. I can make the kind of cinema that we imagine without compromising.”
Interestingly, ‘STR 50’ was initially declared in 2023 as a collaboration with Kamal Haasan’s Raj Kamal Films International. However, the project was later dropped. In the same interview, Kamal Haasan revealed, “We wanted STR for ‘thug life’, so we sacrificed the earlier project. They can still make it, this is a beautiful story.”
Reunion with prolonged associate Yuvan Shankar Raja for music, ‘ST50’ also cinematographer in Manoj Paramahamsa and ropes as Praveen for Editing. The cast details are awaited further.

Meanwhile, ‘Thug Life’ is one of the most awaited films of 2025, including Kamal Haasan, Silambarson, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Nasir, Sanjana Krishnamurthy and Ashok Selvan. ‘Thug Life’ will be released in theaters on 5 June.
