Actor Sidharth Malhotra’s father Sunil Malhotra passed away in Delhi on Saturday, February 14, after a prolonged illness.

Actor Sidharth Malhotra’s father Sunil Malhotra passed away in Delhi on Saturday (February 14), leaving the family in mourning. The actor is currently in the capital with his loved ones after the completion of the last rites.
Soon after receiving the news, Siddharth and his wife Kiara Advani reached Delhi and have stayed there to support the family. Sources close to him revealed that Sunil Malhotra was ill for a long time before his demise.
A source told India Today, “The family is heartbroken and have requested privacy at this time. Sidharth was extremely close to his father and this is a huge loss not only for him but for the entire family.”
The loss comes after Sidharth had opened up about his father’s declining health in an interview with Lilly Singh last year. During the conversation, he admitted that staying in Mumbai for work sometimes made him feel guilty, as his mother was taking care of his father at home in Delhi. The actor reflected on the emotional strain of balancing a demanding film career with responsibilities towards aging parents.
Sunil Malhotra, a former Merchant Navy captain, played an important role in his son’s upbringing. Siddharth often credits his parents for instilling discipline and humility in him, values he believes helped him stay grounded despite the pressures of fame. Friends say the father-son relationship remained strong, even though they lived in different cities due to professional commitments.
For Siddharth, this is not just a moment of public loss, but also a deeply personal one. People close to the family say he is completely focused on being there for his mother and relatives during this difficult time. The Malhotra family has requested space and privacy as they express their grief.
