Actress-singer Shruti Haasan conducted an ‘Ask Me Something’ session on Instagram while she was driving. The most bizarre question in this session was that she had to say something in a South Indian accent.
The session got quite uncomfortable, and the Salaar actress gave a fitting reply, and urged to stop the racism. Giving a fitting reply, Shruti said, “Okay… so this kind of subtle racism is not okay and it’s also not okay when you look at us and say Idli Dosa Sambar. And no, you can’t copy us, so don’t try to be funny.”

A few months ago, Shah Rukh Khan faced criticism for calling Telugu actor Ram Charan ‘idli’. The incident took place during Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding celebrations in Jamnagar.
Nowadays, ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions have become a well-known trend in showbiz. Film celebrities from across India regularly take part in these sessions. Sometimes they reveal interesting anecdotes, while sometimes it can be awkward and embarrassing for the actors.
Moreover, the North vs South debate over dialects, accents and characterization has been going on for a long time. The incident involving Shruti Haasan is another recent addition to this controversial topic.
More about Shruti Haasan’s interactive session
Apart from this quirky session, there were some interesting interactions between Haasan and his fans.
One user suggested that since Haasan is a great motivational speaker, singer and actress, she should start a podcast.
In response, the actress expressed concerns that the podcast might come across as preachy and feared she might do something stupid during it, so she decided to drop the idea.
Another interesting question asked was why she prefers black most of the time. The Inimail musician replied, “Honestly, it’s a colour that gives me a lot of confidence, and it makes me feel my best, it makes me feel focused and strong… it’s a really happy colour for me”
Some of Haasan’s fans were curious to know who his celebrity crush is. In response to this question, he posted a picture of Academy Award-winning actor Cillian Murphy in his Peaky Blinders look.
