Shreya Ghoshal postpones Kolkata show amid RG Kar rape protest: Sheer cruelty
Shreya Ghoshal has postponed her Kolkata concert scheduled for September 14, 2024. In a statement released on social media, she expressed deep grief and concern over the recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor in the city.
Singer Shreya Ghoshal has rescheduled her Kolkata concert (All Hearts Tour) in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. Protests continue in the city After the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor. He announced it on X on 31 August. His concert was scheduled to take place on September 14, 2024.
The singer released a statement on social media on Saturday, August 31. Referring to the rape-murder incident that shook the nation, Shreya said she was “deeply saddened by the recent gruesome and heinous incident in Kolkata”, and that the “sheer brutality” sent “shivers down her spine”.
Further Shreya wrote, “With a very heavy heart and deep sorrow, my promoters (Ishq FM) and I would like to reschedule my concert “Shreya Ghoshal Live, All Hearts Tour”. LSHQ FM The “Grand Concert” which was originally scheduled for September 14, 2024, has now been moved to a new date in October 2024. This concert has been much awaited by all of us, but it is absolutely necessary for me to take a stand and join all of you in solidarity. I sincerely pray for the respect and safety of women in this world, not just in our country.”
She further added, “I hope my friends and fans will accept and understand our decision to postpone this concert. Please stay with my band and me as we stand united against the demons of humanity. I request you to stay tuned till we announce a new date. Your existing tickets will remain valid for the new date. Looking forward to meeting you all. Love, prayers and hope, Shreya Ghoshal.”
