Shreya Dhanwantri: I want to do films that break you emotionally
In an exclusive interview with India Today, actress Shreya Dhanwantri revealed how screen time doesn’t matter to her. He gave an example from The Family Man and said that asking for more time is a selfish thing.

Dhanwanthari spoke about how every character he has played so far has changed him as a person. He said, “I think you’re right. You change with every character you play, especially when you’re stepping into territory that’s not familiar. I’ve always tried to explore roles that are as different from me as possible.”

This time, the change seems especially obvious. “This one (great shamsuddin family) is very different from any character I have played before on screen as I have usually played heavy, dramatic characters. She added, “It’s light-hearted, something I haven’t done in a very long time, in fact, it’s the first time. It feels liberating, but I’m really nervous about how people will perceive it. I just hope I did a good job.”
In an industry often obsessed with screen time and visibility, Dhanwanthary is absolutely unfiltered about what really matters to her: “Screen time doesn’t really matter. The Family Man is proof of that. But yes, it’s a selfish thing too. As an actor, you always want to spend more time acting. I always want more screen time,” she said.

It’s good to see that, nevertheless, the impact has been great. The show is doing well and all the characters are getting love all around.
“I’m completely unrelated to this world. I didn’t even grow up in India. I was on the engineering route, and I’m an engineer. But the first time I was on set, it felt like this was what I was supposed to do. The real turning point for me was the scandal. It changed everything,” she said and credited the series for opening doors not only professionally, but creatively.
“From drama to slice of life and different genres, I want to cover as many stories as possible. I think that’s the lure of every actor, to be a part of different worlds. This is the first time I’m doing something like this, so it should be fun,” she said before admitting that what excites her most is being in the unknown. “As far as genres that excite me – everything I haven’t done yet. Sci-fi, fantasy, mythology, out-and-out action, blockbuster, romance. I want to make a true love story.”
“I also want to do films like trauma Those beautiful movies that scare you so deeply that you never want to watch them again. Movies that destroy you emotionally.”
