HBO’s Harry Potter TV series is set to make its premiere next summer. Cast details have not been finalized yet. Recent reports suggest that the show will premiere in the summer of 2025.
During a recent conversation, director and producer Mark Mylod shared that 32,000 children auditioned for the roles, including the roles of the main cast – Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
However, the cast is yet to be selected.
“We haven’t made any final choices, but we are working with a shortlist in January. And there are some crackers. Of course, we’re following the canonical casting books,” Mylod shared.
The filmmaker and producer also talked about the character of Professor Snape and said that the late Alan Rickman, who played him in the film, is irreplaceable: “Nobody can replace Alan Rickman, but we can find the next Alan Rickman.”
Alan Rickman died in 2016. He was 69 years old. The famous actor played the role of Snape in eight Harry Potter films.
