Shivamma, a Kannada family drama, directed by Jaishankar Aryar and produced by Risha Shetty, was released in theaters in 2022. Despite its unique story, the film struggled for years to secure an OTT deal. However, it has finally launched a strong digital release with a major streaming giant.
When and where to see Shivamma
Shivamma will start streaming at Sun NXT from April 4. Announcing on Instagram, Rishab Shetty’s production house wrote, “‘Shivamma’ has been premiers on Sunnax since yesterday. People who missed watching in theaters can watch the film at your home.”

The film Shivamma follows the 46-year-old mid-day meal cook which dreams of a better life. She invests in a network marketing business, for her savings, her daughter’s wedding. Believing her ability, she forbits her neighbors to buy nutritional supplements.
Her influence in the village increases, and she enjoys new respect. But an unexpected event shakes the faith of people. Appreciation turns into suspicion, and she faces criticism.
Now, Shivamma should fight to restore her reputation and secure the future of her family. The set in a rural village highlights the risks of the film ambition, flexibility and financial decisions.
Cast and crew of Shivamma
Shivamma is a Kannada film directed and written by Jaishankar Aryar and produced by Rishab Shetty under Rish Shetty Films. Cinematography is done by Vikas Urs and Soumayanand Sahi, while Jaishankar Aryar and Chandan CM handled the editing.
The film stars Sharanamma Chetty Shivamma as Shivu Abbare, Shruti Kondenhalli, Chenppa Honey and Shivanand Sadar.
Shivamma’s premiere was at the 27th Busan International Film Festival, where it received the New Currents Award. It was later screened at several international film festivals, winning the award at Fajr International Film Festival and Three Content’s Festival.
The film was dramatically released in Karnataka on 14 June 2024 and received positive reviews.
