Shine Tom Chacko says Mammooty supported him during de-addiction, father’s death
Actor Shine Tom Chacko opened his de-addiction journey, a car accident and his father’s loss. He also reflected on the unbreakable support received from actor Mammooty during these difficult times.

Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has opened up about the tragic car accident that claimed his father’s life earlier this month. In a hearty interview with WhyHe also reflected his personal fight with drug addiction and how the unwavering support of actor Mammooty helped him through one of the deepest stages of his life.
Shine remembered the accident on the Hosur National Highway on 6 June. He revealed that he had developed a habit of eating biscuits to deal with the symptoms of return. His father was aware of his struggle, during the drive that day he was constantly offering him biscuits.
“Earlier, I used to smoke during the break, but now I have replaced it with biscuits. I remember I ask my father for something to wake up in the middle of the night. The next thing I remember is looking at her after the accident. She never talked to us after that,” she said.
Shine was traveling with his father, mother and brother when the accident occurred. He faced several fractures and required 30 stitches. He said, “It did not strike me at first. But then I found myself lying on the road, crying and begged for help,” he said.
While many increased their support during their hospitalization, a gesture that took him deeply came from Mammooty. “He did not say much, but he said what I really need to listen to. He said that I am not to consume grief, stay grounded, and go ahead,” Shine said.
He said, “Mammukka herself is going through a difficult time, but still tries to call. He told me that he never saw me as a problematic person – just one mischievous one. He asked me to shed that mischief from his life and said that we will soon work together again.”
Shine Tom Chacko was recently in the news after complaints related to the use of alleged drugs.
He acted with ‘Gadda’ in 2011 and was last seen in ‘Good Bad Badh’ and ‘Alappuzha Gymkhana’.
